LIFE3 In-School Workshops

Over the years, our volunteers have been providing creative writing workshops to youth in South Florida.

LIFE3 serves schools and communities that have limited access to creative development or media arts programs. Our curriculum integrates national educational standards (Language Arts, Math, Technology, Fine Arts and Social Science), workplace competencies, and practical experience in the overall creative process.

Our workshops and programs: 

• Take young creators through the experience of developing and executing their ideas into finished works and presentations
• Provide insight, education, and understanding of these processes
• Impart good character education and the responsibility to promote positive images and messages in their creative works
• Offers an academic-based creative arts experience to uplift, educate and inspire future artists and professionals

LIFE Reels Youth Summer Workshop

2009 hallmarked the success of our pilot workshop series, LIFE Reels, which culminates in a premiere screening at our annual Miami Heat red carpet event.

LIFE Reels serves elementary, middle and high school students. It is an educational workshop series that guides youth through the experience of developing their story ideas into completed 30-minute movies, public service announcements and documentaries. It empowers youth to use creativity as an outlet for expression on topics relevant to their generation. It is through our workshops that we teach, provide vocational insight, impart good character education and communicate the responsibility to promote positive images and messages in their work.

Program components include:

• Script Writing - Students will learn and apply basic skills education in order to write a movie script (narrative writing, visual storytelling, character role-playing, and standard scriptwriting formatting).
• Producing - Students will apply and develop critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills to budget, schedule and shoot their video/film presentations.
• Acting - Student cast will observe, learn and practice acting techniques. They will also rehearse roles and blocking (positioning themselves) for on camera performance.
• Presenting - Students will present their completed film production in their school, community and online.

LIFE3 Enrichment Tours

Our LIFE Reels Youth Summer Workshop also incorporates a university, college, and career enrichment tours that introduce our participants to the of degrees of study available to them upon graduation from highschool.
